Palestine has been close to my heart since I visited there 10 years ago. I was shocked to see the living conditions. I was shocked at how badly the Palestinians were treated. Daily humiliation and abuse are a part of life for them. I couldn't believe a system of Apartheid could be in place in this modern world. I couldn't believe a wall could exist to keep people locked away.
I had such lovely experiences with the people I met there. I also worked with many Palestinians in Kuwait. They and their families had been forced out of Palestine during the 1948 Nakba and years that followed. They were some of the kindest souls I've met with a sense of humour very similar to the Irish one.
Like many of us, my heart is breaking watching the horrors in Gaza unfold. I feel completely powerless to help.
Organising a fundraiser is one small thing I can do right now and, with your help, I hope to raise some money Gaza Kinder Relief and the Hayat Yolu Association.
Gaza Kinder Relief aims to help injured children of Gaza and to evacuate them to get life-saving procedures. Hayat Yolu aims to provide food and supplies to people in Gaza.
